THANKSGIVING DONATIONS 2018
Along with all the food donations brought in at the annual Thanksgiving Food Drive Assembly, Sherwood students donated vegetables either grown in our school gardens (tomatoes, squash, carrots) or "adopted" out and grown at home (squash). Our vegetables are all on the front row, in front of the canned goods. Congratulations students!

TOMATOSPHERE: Does exposure to space affect the germination rate of tomato seeds?
Sherwood students will conduct seed experiments to help astronauts learn more about growing fresh fruits and vegetables in space. This food will help feed future travellers who leave on long-duration missions to the Moon, Mars and beyond.

OUR LEARNING GARDEN!!
Thanks to a grant of $500 from "Nutrients For Life", we are able to start a Learning Garden here at Sherwood School! We purchased 2 stand-up self-watering gardens from Veseys to plant our sweet potatoes, and we tilled up a patch near our small picnic tables for our carrots. This fall, we will harvest our vegetables and and make a "Harvest Soup". We've been adding pictures from start to finish!

FALL CLEAN-UP 2015
A SLIDESHOW OF THE BUILDING OF OUR SCHOOL GARDEN, 1991:
It is amazing to see the transformation that took place 25 years ago when the outside space between classrooms was developed into a school garden. It was a tremendous effort on behalf of staff, the community and the Sherwood Community Council. The garden remains a favourite learning area in our school, and a place for quiet moments with nature. Click on the pictures with text if you would like a little longer to read the captions.
